Full name of organisation	Adelaide Women’s Community Health Centre
Short description	Established as South Australia’s first women’s health center, Hindmarsh Women’s Community Health Centre originated from the Women’s Liberation Movement’s recognition of the need for a dedicated facility. In 1974, the government granted funding, leading to the official opening of 6 Mary St, Hindmarsh, in 1976. The center became a teaching hub for women’s health and produced educational materials on general and gynecological health. Subsequently, the Rape Crisis Centre emerged from the Health Centre. Funding disputes with the State Health Department arose due to the differing operational philosophies and politics within the feminist collective running the center. Ultimately, funding was withdrawn. After advocacy by the Women’s Adviser to the Premier, the center relocated to North Adelaide and became Women’s Health Statewide. Later, it transformed into the Welling Place, providing alternative health services. The original location at 6 Mary St was demolished in 1989 to make way for the Adelaide Entertainment Centre
