OVERVIEW | |
Full name of organisation | St. Peters Women’s Community Centre |
Short description | Established in 1977 as part of the International Women’s Year Initiative, St Peters Women’s Community Centre in Adelaide serves local women by providing childcare and various courses, such as fitness, self-defense, crafts, yoga, and maintenance. The center was created following a survey that identified a community need for such a space. Supported by the St Peters Council with funding and a building, the center was renovated by community members. It also operates a volunteer program to help women gain work skills. In 2007, the center successfully campaigned to preserve its century-old cottages. |
